About
Welcome to Folk Festival Photos, festival photography by Alan Cole.

Since its origins in 2007, Music Festival Photos has been supplying stock images to various artists, bands and record companies for their own promotional use as well as magazines, festivals and websites, of which I am the house photographer for Bright Young Folk. This has included requests to cover Glastonbury festival for The Imagined Village, Womad for the Afro Celt Sound System and Bellowhead at the BBC Folk Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and Abbey Road for the recording of their third album 'Hedonism'. My work can also be found on several albums including the highly acclaimed second album 'Matachin' from Bellowhead, the 30th anniversary album from Oysterband 'The Oxford Girl & Other Stories' and 'Cecil Sharp Project' for Shrewsbury Folk Festival and EFDSS. Magazines include a front cover for 'efdss', a two page (tweleve photo) spread for 'fRoots', a five photo Bellowhead article in 'Songlines' and six photo article for The Demon Barbers 'Time Gentlemen Please' in 'Animated' the community dance magazine. Internationally, my images have been used in 'Sing Out!' (United States) as well as press articles in Germany and Sweden. The Guardian has also carried one of my images for the Cecil Sharp Project.

With a growing reputation over the last few years, I have become more closely involved with a select number of highly respected festivals, for which I now have official status. This website is intended to showcase those festivals and the work of Folk Festival Photos and selected other photographers. When required I work closely with Duncan Simey, festival photographer and webmaster at Priddy Folk Festival and Kate Southall http://www.kesouthallportfolio.co.uk
